Driven to Discover: The Research Series

In June 2010, my research was featured in the University of Minnesota’s Driven to Discover: The Research Series, produced by the Office of Information Technology. In this episode, I talk about my dissertation pilot study and how heteronormativity, heterosexism and homophobia plays out in online coaching biographies. Seminal scholar [and my advisor] Dr. Mary Jo Kane, along with my co-advisor Dr. Nicole M. LaVoi, are also featured in the video.

iWant, iHave, iCan: The Exciting Adventure of iPads in Education

In April 2011, I was invited to speak at the U of MN’s 20 by 20: An OIT Pecha Kucha Event on my experiences supporting the College of Education & Human Development’s iPad Initiative. Using the pecha kucha format (20 slides that auto-advance every 20 seconds),  iWant, iHave, iCan: The Exciting Adventure of iPads in Education tells the story of the challenges and opportunities the iPad presented as a mobile learning device.

Practice, and all is coming…

Yoga runs in my family. Growing up with a mother who owns a yoga studio, I have practiced yoga for over a decade. I have had the unique opportunity to practice with many renowned Ashtangi instructors, including Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, David Swenson, David Williams, David Keil, and of course, my mother, Stair. My ashtanga background coupled with many years as a basketball player, runner, and triathlete have helped her build an athletic vinyasa yoga practice. In 2011, I was NETA certified by CorePower Yoga as a Yoga Sculpt Instructor, which combines a trifecta of awesomeness: yoga, weight training, and hot jams! My teaching schedule in the Twin Cities, and occasionally in Northern Virginia, is available here.
